How Talos collects, uses, and protects the personal information of the experts and audiences who use the platform.
Talos is an all-in-one platform for experts who build, sell, and grow their business online. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Talos, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to our marketing site, the Talos application, and the storefronts, courses, communities, and newsletters our customers run on Talos.
Information we collect
We collect the information you give us directly: your name, email address, billing details, and anything you choose to add to your profile or publish through Talos. We also collect information automatically as you use the product, including device and browser details, IP address, pages viewed, and the actions you take in the app. When you pay for a plan, our payment processor handles your card details; we receive only the last four digits, card type, and billing country.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and operate Talos, to authenticate you, to process payments and renewals, to send service messages about your account, and to provide support. We use aggregated usage data to understand which features earn their place and to improve the product. With your consent, we send product and marketing email, which you can unsubscribe from at any time without losing access to your account.
Information you collect through Talos
If you run a course, community, membership, newsletter, or podcast on Talos, you are the controller of your audience’s personal information and we process it on your behalf. You are responsible for having a lawful basis for that processing and for your own privacy notice. We will not use your audience’s data to market our own products.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We share it with service providers who help us run Talos — hosting, payments, email delivery, analytics, and customer support — each of whom is bound to use it only on our instructions. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to protect the rights and safety of our users. If Talos is involved in a merger or acquisition, we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. When you close your account we delete or anonymise your personal information within 90 days, except where we are required to retain records for tax, accounting, or legal reasons. Backups are purged on a rolling schedule.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise most of these rights from your account settings; for anything else, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the time limits set by applicable law, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences, and to measure how the product and marketing site are used. Essential cookies are always on because the product will not work without them. You can control non-essential cookies through the consent banner or your browser settings.
Security
We encrypt data in transit and at rest, restrict internal access on a need-to-know basis, and review our security practices regularly. No system is perfectly secure, so we ask you to use a strong, unique password and to enable two-factor authentication on your account.
International transfers
Talos operates globally, which means your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal information out of the UK, Switzerland, or the European Economic Area, we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to protect it.
Children
Talos is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy as the product changes. When we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects you meaningfully, tell you by email or in the product before it takes effect.
